Dear Boys vs. East Honmoku - Part 1

Wanted to watch something today and I was like "Oh, I haven't seen Dear Boys yet" even though I've downloaded it sometime ago. Actually, it's more surprising I haven't seen it since Kane is in it.

So, I skimmed through the backstage & the main musical for all Kane moments XD And now I must post about some initial thoughts (later will be a post w/ pictures from the main musical).

1) Kane is the captain of his team. THIS MAKES ME HAPPY. I assumed that he was the center position since he is the tallest. And centers never seem to be captains to me.

2) His team consists of sillyness and coolness. And a coach that whacks them with his plastic megaphone. They also do some fun, hip dances. And do a paired dance with the other team (this greatly amuses me).

3) The backstage has a part where the two teams and the supporting characters do a basketball shootout. The reactions to either making the shot or missing are so extreme and completely hilarious! It reminded me of the JanKenPon challenge from Tenipuri Festa '11.

4) There is also a part in the backstage where they all eat some kind of food that is apparently disgusting. Although Kane doesn't show as strong of a reaction to it (I hope he doesn't like it lol).

Getting ready for the shot to put his team at three points.

Sandals are not proper basketball shoes!

Look at that form!

Swish! Nothing but net!! XD

I'm NUMBER ONE! That is why I am your captain!!

One of his teammates about to knee him in the chest giving him a congratulatory high-five.

East Honmoku celebrate their four points with extremely joyous expressions!

In the end, the winners were indeed East Honmoku! WHOOOOOO!!!!

Yay Kane! You make the free throw look easy. ;) (not that I would know...)

It's hard to tell in the picture, but they're standing back further than where the free throw line would be (although I'm not sure they're far enough to be considered the 3-point line either). And the basketball hoop is quite lower than the standard height so most of the boys can do slam dunks.

Which, altogether, makes it a bit more impressive in my opinion :) I used to play basketball - now I suddenly miss it!

Ah, you watched the Dear Boys musical! I'm a pretty big fan of Dear Boys (the manga) though like how I am with everything else, I fell behind with reading that too, haha... (I'm still buying the volumes as they come out though). I've watched the first musical and quite enjoyed Minami Keisuke's role in that. Some old screencaps!

This musical is also on my to-watch list. Now that I know Kane's in there.... I didn't know this before!

I can't think of anybody who hasn't fallen behind reading something lol. It comes with the manga territory I suppose XD I haven't seen the first musical yet, but I will most likely now that I have made it halfway through the second one.

Minami!! I don't think I've seen him in a non-Tenimyu role... I mean, I've seen him in the PureBOYS music videos, but I was so distracted by Baba and Ouji (because they were my reasons to watch in the first place) that I didn't really take him in.

But in the second musical, I was like "Ooo... Minami is so cool!" I liked his haircut, but he had such a warm smile too! And kind of this quiet sense of humor. :)

Kane was the reason why I downloaded this musical some time ago. He is my reason for life XDDDD His character is quite amusing (and he looks completely natural as a basketball player!).

There is one part where East Honmoku is introducing themselves to the girl of the main team (in a rather 'I'm-crushing-on-her" way), and Kane's second go at it where he says "Watashi wa! Captain no! Fujisawa desu" and then throws in the most charming smile possible... So funny and amazing!

Also, a manly guttural roar of victory from him awaits you. SANADA indeed! Now time for me to finish watching today... and to look at the screencaps!!

*too many things to watch, read, and follow!* I have the new Tenimyu shows I've been wanting to watch too, but I haven't just yet.

He didn't particularly stand out to me as Tezuka (he seemed to be the least Tezuka-like Tezuka?) but I loved him in the Dear Boys musical! :) I haven't seen any of his other roles either.

Haha, East Honmoku is so silly. I didn't have a very big impression of the captain from the manga, but it'll be interesting to see Kane in that role. :D
